Position Description

Compensation: $37,947-$55,557

Key Position Information:

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.

Position Summary:

A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the college in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the college and continuing professional development.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology or related IT discipline or Master's degree with 18 credit hours in cybersecurity or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to teach a broad range of cybersecurity courses.
  • Ability to adapt to varying modalities, schedules and campus locations
  • Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
  • Ability to be innovative, creative, motivated
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
  • Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
  • Good organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Desire2Learn.
  • Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Preferences:

  • Certifications in Security+, CyberOps, Ethical Hacker, PenTest+, CySA+, A+
  • Three years of cybersecurity practitioner experience
  • Experience coaching and recruiting for cybersecurity competition teams
  • Experience organizing events such as guest speakers and community outreach
  • Experience organizing, developing, and teaching summer camps for middle and high school students
  • Experience setting up or enhancing a cybersecurity lab
  • Strong understanding of NSA and DHS guidelines for Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the cybersecurity community.
